불어불문학을 공부하다 대학교 3학년 때 유학을 떠나 캘리포니아대학에서 언어학을 전공하고 동(同) 대학원에서 ‘제2언어로서의 영어교수법(TESOL)’을, 서강대학교 경제대학원에서 OLP과정을 수료했다.
매일경제신문사에서 17년 동안 산업부, 부동산부, 유통경제부, 외국기업팀, 국제부 등을 두루 거치며 경제전반을 취재했고, 이데일리 글로벌마켓 부장으로 재직하며 세계경제의 흐름을 진단하기도 했다. 20년차 경제전문기자로 업계에서는 경제통으로 불린다.
KBS <아시아는 지금>, YTN, 불교방송 등 다수의 방송에 출연해 세계경제 이슈에 대해 논평했고, <코리아 헤럴드>, , 외국계 컨설팅업체 등에 기고활동을 해왔다.
저서로는 베스트셀러 《경제 상식사전》, 《만화 경제 상식사전》(공저) 등이 있다.
After studying French and French Literature, he left abroad in his third year of college, majoring in linguistics at the University of California, graduating with a degree in English as a Second Language (TESOL) at the graduate school, and an OLP course at Sogang University.
He worked at the Ministry of Industry, Real Estate, the Ministry of Trade and Economy, the Foreign Enterprise Team, and the International Department for 17 years at the Maeil Business Newspaper. He also served as general manager of the global market for the whole year. He is a professional journalist for 20 years and is called the economy in the industry.
