필 클리버(Phil Cleaver)
1977년 세계적인 디자인 컨설팅회사 펜타그램에서 커리어를 시작했다. 거장 앨런 플레처 밑에서 디자인 기량을 연마했으며, 1987년부터 ‘클리버랜더’를 창립하여 세계적인 디자인 대행사로 성장시켰다. 현재도 현역으로 왕성하게 활동하며, 혁신적인 교육으로 유명한 런던의 미들섹스 대학교에서 크리에이티브 학과 교수로 젊은 디자이너들을 양성하고 있다.
다양한 수상경력을 자랑하는 저자는 영국 최고의 그래픽 디자이너 중 한명으로 손꼽힌다. 디자인 업계의 오스카 시상식이라 불리는 국제 디자인 광고제 DnAD의 CI(기업 이미지 통합) 부문에서 유일하게 7년 연속 우승을 차지한 기록이 있다. 그가 작업한 대표적인 CI로는 비자카드, 피어슨 출판사, 히든아트 등이 있다. 그의 타이포그래피는 영국 성 브라이드 인쇄물 도서관에, 그가 디자인한 책은 런던 빅토리아 앨버트 박물관에 영구 소장되어 있다.
저자는 40년간의 디자인 실무 지식과 교수 경험을 바탕으로 졸업 후 취업을 앞둔 예비 디자이너와 회사에서 고군분투하는 신입 디자이너들을 위해 이 책을 집필했다.
In 1977, he started his career at Pentagram, a global design consulting firm. In 1987, he founded Cleverlander and became a global design agency. He is currently active as a full-time actor, and trains young designers as creative professors at Middlesex University in London, renowned for his innovative education.
The award-winning author is considered one of the best graphic designers in the UK. There is a record for the seventh consecutive year in DnAD’s CI (Corporate Image Integration) category, an international design festival called the Oscar Award in the design industry. Typical CIs he has worked with include Visa, Pearson, and Hidden Art. His typography is on the library of the British Castle Bride Imprint, and his book is permanently in the Victoria Albert Museum in London.
Based on 40 years of design practice knowledge and teaching experience, the author has written this book for pre-graduate designers and new designers who are struggling in the company.
