부조리에 지치고 무기력해지는 시대에 사람들을 희망으로 이끌어줄 책이 있다는 건 크나큰 힘이 된다. 이익과 손해로 양분되는 자본주의의 도시 홍콩에서 “국가의 품격은 어떻게 만들어지는가”는 시민들의 존재감을 키워주었고 그 때문에 출간 이후 지금까지 홍콩인들에게 많은 사랑을 받을 수 있었다.

In 2014, a massive democratization demonstration took place in Hong Kong under the name of the umbrella revolution. Many youngsters who went to the demonstration at that time read this book on the street. This is probably because the message of “Zhou, Baosong” that citizens’ participation eventually led to a change in their minds. The author also led the protests with students standing in the middle of the umbrella revolution, and he was eventually arrested by the police for “illegal rallies” and “crimes against police execution”. He calls this experience “civil disobedience.”

From 2007 to 2014, he also taught the latest on-site graphic technologies that were reflected as practical professors and lecturers at schools such as Seoul National University of Science and Technology, Seoul National University of Arts, Shingu University, Baekseok University, and international universities. He participated in the development of National Conpetency Standards (NCS) for architectural design and interior design in 2015. He then wrote architectural and interior graphic parts of architectural design interior design learning modules. Currently, the Korean Educational Development Institute (KEDI), a government-funded research institute under the Prime Minister’s office, is establishing a vision and development strategy for Korean education.

저자는 정보통신공학부 멀티미디어통신을 전공하고 가상현실 관련 논문을 쓰면서 3D 컴퓨터 그래픽 전반에 대한 관심을 가졌다. 포스코ICT(전, 포스데이타) e-City 사업팀에 입사하여 ISP 사업과 포털 사이트를 운영하였고, 한국과학기술정보연구원(KISTI) 슈퍼컴퓨팅센터에 근무하면서 국내 최초로 도입한 최첨단 가상현실 시스템인 CAVE SYSTEM을 운영하였다. 영상편집을 하면서 CINEMA 4D라는 3D 프로그램을 사용하게 되었고, 한국폴리텍대학교 디지털방송과에서 3D 그래픽 실습 강의를 하였다. 현재 프리랜서로 3D 작업 및 여러 분야의 디자인과 영상 작업 등을 진행하고 있다.

The author majored in multimedia communication and got interested in 3D computer graphics while writing papers related to virtual reality. POSCO ICT (formerly POSDATA) joined the e-City business team and operated the ISP business and portal site. While working at KISTI Super Computing Center, Korea’s first state-of-the-art virtual reality system CAVE SYSTEM . The author was using 3D program called CINEMA 4D while editing video, and lectured on 3D graphics practice at Digital Broadcasting University of Korea Polytechnic University. Currently, The author is working on freelance 3D work and designing and visualizing various fields.

모스크바 국립 대학교에서 물리학 석사 학위를, 스토니브룩대학교에서 컴퓨터공학 박사 학위를 취득했다. 주요 연구 분야는 컴퓨터 시뮬레이션과 모델링, 네트워크 과학, 소셜 네트워크 분석, 디지털 인류학이다. 2001년부터 매사추세츠 보스턴에 위치한 서퍽대학교에서 학생들을 가르치고 있다.

He holds a master’s degree in physics from Moscow State University and a Ph.D. in computer science from Stony Brook University. His main research interests are computer simulation and modeling, network science, social network analysis, and digital anthropology. Since 2001, he has been teaching students at the University of Suffolk in Boston, Massachusetts.
