경력 12년 영어 스피치 전문 컨설턴트. 캐나다 몬트리올에서 태어나 토론토 대학교에서 불문학을 전공하고 동대학교 교육 대학원을 졸업했다. 이후 한국으로 건너와 이화여자대학교 외국어 교육 특수 대학원에서 TESOL 석사 학위를 취득했다. 기업 임직원 및 CEO를 대상으로 영어 스피치 컨설팅을 하던 중 EBS 라디오의 중고급 영어회화 프로그램 “Power English”의 진행자로 발탁된다. 영어 실력을 한 단계 끌어 올리고 싶은 학습자들을 누구보다 가까이 접하면서 적절한 학습 콘텐츠가 부족한 그들의 고충을 절감하며 중고급 영어 콘텐츠 개발에 관심을 갖게 되었다. 오랜 연구 끝에, 패턴 학습이야말로 초급자들이 영어 실력을 단기간에 확실하게 업그레이드할 수 있는 최고의 학습법임을 확신하게 되었다. 복잡한 문법과 어려운 표현은 패턴으로 익히고 하고 싶은 말만 덧붙이면 누구나 중고급 수준의 영어를 구사할 수 있다고 생각한 것.

12 years professional English Speech Consultant. Born in Montreal, Canada, Joyce Paek studied French literature at the University of Toronto and graduated from the University’s Graduate School of Education. The author then moved to Korea and earned a master’s degree in TESOL from Ewha Womans University School of Foreign Language Education.
While working on English Speech Consulting for corporate employees and CEOs, Paek will be the host of “Power English”, an English conversation program for middle and high school students of EBS Radio. Students who want to take their English proficiency to the next level are getting closer to each other. After a long period of study, pattern learning is sure to be the best way for beginners to upgrade their English skills in a short period of time. Complex grammar and difficult expressions are taught in patterns, and anyone who thinks that they can speak upper-middle class English with only the words they want to say.
