미국의 컨설팅 기업 JD파워스에 따르면, Y세대는 운전하는 시간을 낭비라고 생각한다. 다시 말해, 소셜미디어와 인터넷을 할 수 없는 죽어버린 시간이라고 여긴다. 그들의 목표는 오로지 목적지에 도달하는 것이다. 그들은 이동하는 시간을 개인적으로 유용하게 활용할 방법을 찾고 있다.

Automatic Driving Revolution: what changes, what opportunities and problems
According to US consulting firm JD Powers, Generation Y thinks driving time is a waste. In other words, social media and the Internet can not be considered dead time. Their goal is to reach the destination only. They are looking for ways to make personal use of the time they travel.
This change is a very important clue. This is because the characteristics of the young generation, that is, young people under the age of 30, who are emerging as the biggest entities and consumers of the economy, are the most important indicators of future economic change.
In fact, as many people already know, the technical preparation of autonomous vehicles has come to a close. But there is less social preparation to accept the technology. Whether we like it or not, the autonomous revolution is an imminent reality that we can not stop. So we need to look at what opportunities and threats this trend will bring, and what are the key issues we need to know.

호드 립슨(Hod Lipson)은 코넬 대학교 공과대학 교수를 거쳐 현재는 컬럼비아 대학교 기계공학과 교수로 재직 중이다. 자동설계와 로봇 생명체 형체 제조, 자가 복제 로봇, 푸드 프린팅, 그리고 바이오 프린팅에 대한 그의 연구는 뉴욕타임스를 비롯해 월스트리트저널, 뉴스위크, 타임, NPR 등 많은 미디어의 주목을 받았다. Hod Lipson is currently professor of mechanical engineering at Columbia University. His research on automatic design and robot creature shape manufacturing, self-replicating robots, food printing, and bioprinting has received much attention from the New York Times, the Wall Street Journal, Newsweek, Time, and NPR. Speaking at TED and the National Academy on artificial intelligence research, he is pioneering new technologies to create machines that can create and think creatively on their own. He wrote “The New World of 3D Printing” to show how another industrial revolution could change the future of mankind.
