어학연수를 가서도 자신 있게 원어민들과 얘기할 수 있도록 하는 어학연수 영어 포켓판!

수험영어와 생활영어의 내용이 다르듯 오랫동안 현지에 머무르는 어학연수에서 필요한 영어 표현은 따로 있다. 아무리 많은 표현이 담겨있어도 자신이 활용하고 싶은 표현이 없다면 무용지물. “어학연수 영어 무작정 따라하기”는 어학연수 기간동안 만날 수 있는 모든 상황에 대처할 수 있도록 목차를 구성하였으며, 원어민들이 실제로 쓰는 표현들만 모아 현지 미국인들과 자유자재로 대화를 할 수 있도록 하였다. 또한 현지에 가서 영어를 듣고 말하는 데 무리가 없도록 gonna(going to), wanna(want to) 등 곳곳에 구어체 표현을 그대로 실었다.

또한 이 책에서는 영어 표현 뿐 아니라 필자가 실제 현지에서 지내면서 알게 된 유용한 정보를 현장감 넘치는 사진과 함께 책 곳곳에 담아, 미국에 직접 가지 않아도 요즘 미국의 문화를 느낄 수 있도록 하였다.

English language course that allows you to speak with native speakers confidently even when you go abroad.

As the contents of the exam English and living English are different, there are separate expressions of English that are required for long-term language courses. No matter how many expressions you have, there is no point in expressing what you want to use. The “Doing English in the Language” program is designed to meet the needs of all language learners and allows native speakers to communicate freely with local Americans by collecting the actual expressions they are using. Also, we went to the local place to listen to and speak English, so we put it in the colloquial expressions like gonna (going to), wanna (want to) and so on.

In addition to this, the book also contains useful information that the author learned in real life as well as English expressions, along with photographs filled with excitement, so that he can feel America’s culture even if he does not go to the US directly.

The University of Illinois at Urbana Champaign에서 경제학을 전공하고, The University of Pennsylvania에서 TESOL(Teaching English to Students of Other Languages:영어가 모국어가 아닌 사람들을 위한 영어교육)을 전공, 엄청난 분량의 Reading과 Writing을 끝내고 Master’s degree를 취득했다.
고등학교 1학년 때 미국으로 건너간 그는 학창시절, 오디션을 통해 뮤지컬의 주역을 맡기도 하고, 우등생 클럽인 National Honor’s Society의 멤버로도 활동하는 등 넘치는 끼를 주체할 수 없었다고. 그래서인지 그의 책에는 번뜩이는 아이디어와 재치로 재미와 즐거움이 가득하다.
현재, ‘재미있어야 쉽게 배울 수 있다’는 강의 철학을 가지고 ELS와 e4u에서 을 가르치고 있다.

The author studied Economics at the University of Illinois at Urbana Champaign. The University of Pennsylvania received a Master’s degree from TESOL (Teaching English to Students of Other Languages) with a major in Reading and Writing.
He went to the US in his first year of high school, and during his school days he was auditioning for musicals and being a member of the honorary club National Honor’s Society. So, his book is filled with funny ideas and delightful fun and joy.
Currently, he teaches at ELS and e4u with a lecture philosophy of ‘It is easy to learn because it is fun.’

만화와 그림으로 배우는 영어 학습법을 개발한 대한민국 최초의 영어만화가. 서울대학교 미술대학을 졸업한 후, 다년간 많은 영어권 나라들을 여행하며 영어의 매력에 빠져들었다. 영어를 효과적으로 공부할 수 있는 방법을 고민하다가 영어와 그림을 접목시킨 새로운 영어 학 습법을 개발하게 되었다. 그림과 함께 영어를 익히니 쉽게 이해하 고 오래 기억할 수 있었던 것. 이 학습법이 좋은 반응을 얻어 “툰글 리시”(중앙일보), “English Kid Kimmy”(조선일보) 등 만화 영어 칼럼을 연재하기도 했다.

The first English cartoonist in Korea who developed English learning methods to learn from manga and painting. After graduating from the Seoul National University of Fine Arts, he has traveled to many English speaking countries for many years and fell in love with English.
