주식회사 커리어 서포트 세미나의 고문 강사이자 로지컬 커뮤니케이션 컨설턴트다. 주로 기업 연수나 비즈니스 세미나에서 논리적 말하기, 글쓰기, 토론하는 법을 지도한다. 1969년 아오모리 현에서 태어났으며, 도호쿠 대학교 대학원 문학연구과 석사 과정을 수료하고 인지심리학을 전공했다.
그는 대형 수능학원 강사로 일하던 시절, 논술 시험이 ‘문장 표현 능력이 아닌 문제 해결 능력을 보는 것’이라는 새로운 정의로 가르치던 학생들의 합격률을 배로 늘렸다. 그때 1만 5천 명 이상의 사례를 연구하며 ‘미니멀 사고’라는 독자적인 문제 해결법을 개발했다. 그 노하우를 정리한 수험 참고서 “무엇을 써야 할지 모르는 사람을 위한 논술의 규칙 55″가 베스트셀러가 되기도 했다.
